One Family has launched its #OneMealOneFamily campaign to raise awareness and combat hunger around the world. There is enough food in the world to feed everyone on the planet, but 805 million people still go to bed hungry every night and 10,000 children die every day of malnutrition and hunger-related health problems.
Naeem Raza, CEO of One Family, explained the charity’s strategy: “Our aim, in collaboration with our charity partners, is to make sure that no one dies of hunger when there is enough food in the world for everyone. We are especially concerned about the most vulnerable among us. Children need proper nutrition to develop. When they are well fed, they become healthier, learn better, and ultimately live more successful lives. It’s a simple but vital equation that is so easy to overlook because we all have enough to eat.”
One Family are currently supporting the efforts of the Turkish Red Crescent in East Africa, which has been devastated by drought, war, and a resulting lack of food. Currently, More than 5.5 million children are malnourished and, of those, 880,000 are in immediate danger of death. “Every child deserves to grow up fit and healthy,” said Raza, “wherever they are in the world. And, for that to happen, they have to be fed. It’s our duty to feed them.”
