About

cycling for Syria

Dear Friends,

On Sunday July 29th, I will be attempting a 100-mile charity cycle ride through London and Surrey to raise desperately-needed funds for Syrian refugees. The Prudential Ride 100 is the cycling equivalent of the London Marathon, and I hope, every mile clocked up will help One Family reach more victims of the devastating seven-year Syrian war.

Though the ride will be a test of endurance, there are 14 million people in Syria who are currently in need of the most basic aid. The conflict has now lasted longer than both World Wars, and it has become the biggest humanitarian crisis of our time – with at least 500,000 people missing or feared dead.

Committed to helping the Syrian people, One Family is working with frontline, grassroots organisations in a number of ways. We are supporting search and rescue efforts at land and sea, delivering critical medical care across the country and providing prosthetic limbs to hundreds of civilians who have lost limbs in the war.

We are leveraging technology to save lives, and also helping people rebuild more hopeful futures. You can read more about our work in Syria here.

Below, you will find more information about the challenge and how we can make this a success together.

Thank you all for your love and support. You have no idea how much I appreciate it.

Setting off from One Family HQ at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in east London, I will join 80,000 cyclists on the gruelling ride – which was made famous by the 2012 London Olympic Games. After taking in the City of London, the route winds across to Richmond Park and then crosses into the rolling Surrey countryside. On the return leg, we will ride back into London via Putney Bridge, and then past some of the capital’s most famous landmarks before reaching the 100-mile finish line on The Mall.

You can follow my own and One Family social media accounts for updates on my training, preparation and throughout the ride itself.

Please email cyclingforsyria@onefamily.org.uk for more details.
